What Does Hero Mean?

Each year, we help more than 3,500 local veterans through this transition, one of which was US Marine and Drexel Hill native, Jim Davie.

After sustaining physical and psychological wounds of war, including traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder, Jim honorably discharged in 2004, but needed assistance navigating his benefits and discovering his new path as a civilian.

A VMC Veteran Service Officer met one-on-one with Jim to identify his needs, connect him to psychiatric assistance, help with the claims process, and discuss what comes next.

We helped Jim utilize educational benefits to complete classes in business management at Drexel University, ultimately propelling him forward to start his own construction business. Today, he is the successful President and CEO of his own company, JD Bravo Company.

Inspired by the assistance and warmth he received at the VMC, Jim continues to volunteer to serve his fellow Veterans as an integral member on the VMC Board of Directors where he assists with VMC employment programs to help other Veterans achieve personal success.
